About Me

When I first started painting it was a refuge for me, it was a way of getting inside of myself and letting go of mundane issues of everyday life. I painted intuitively and explored colour schemes, painted in layers and used diverse brushstrokes, textures and marks. I found that abstract expressionism was my passion and this way of painting is still how I mainly paint. I tend to paint quickly and gesturally, always exploring. Today my inspiration still comes from within myself but also from everyday encounters. It’s about becoming aware of different thoughts and emotions, and transcending these to the work in progress.
However, since I am a person who loves to learn and explore new things and I rarely say no to trying a new technique, medium, painting tool or style, my art is constantly changing and moving to new places. Currently I am learning about watercolour and how to use it in an abstract manner. So, maybe there will eventually be some watercolour paintings on my website too!
Above all, colour is what I find most inspiring. I think it’s so fascinating that it can evoke so much emotion and feeling within us. I find I paint more during the long winter months here in Norway apposed to in the summer. During the summertime I seem to have a need to be more outside and enjoy the warmer weather and beautiful colours and textures in nature: flowers, trees, rocks, or the beautiful mountains we have in this wonderful country. I store all these impressions in my mind to be drawn from in the wintertime.
